Khamzat Chimaev is one of the hottest names in the welterweight division. Even famous UFC Analyst and commentator Joe Rogan considers him the best wrestler in the welterweight division. However, the JRE host is also no stranger to his menacing nature on and off the Octagon. Furthermore, the UFC and Dana White heavily rumored Borz’s clash against Former UFC Middleweight Champion, Robert Whittaker. However, the Auckland native offered his side of the story to address these widespread rumors. After Paulo Costa pulled out of their scheduled bout. The New Zealander is eager to prove his worth as a middleweight contender.

Robert Whittaker never had Khamzat Chimaev on his radar

Robert Whittaker denies any possible bout between him and ‘Borz’ for the upcoming UFC 284 event featuring Islam Makhachev vs Alexander Volkanovski as the main event on Feb 12, 2023. As Whittaker clarifies his exchange with the UFC, he claimed was never offered Chimaev or someone from the middleweight division.

In an interview with FoxSports MainEvent, Whittaker was asked if he was offered, Khamzat Chimaev in Perth for UFC 284.

Then, Whittaker responded “Okay, I wasn’t offered anybody. Just clarify things I wasn’t offered anybody.”

“It was just uh… look we can’t get (Paulo) Costa across the line so we’re looking to reschedule in March (or) April.”

“UFC didn’t want to just give me any fight they want me to fight someone specific in March (or) April. So I’m curious to find out who they want me fighting.”

However, he mentioned that the UFC wants him to fight someone distinct and even he has no knowledge of this mystery contender. Perhaps it could be Chimaev and maybe ‘The Reaper’ just can’t talk about it yet.
