Robert Whittaker denies any possible bout between him and ‘Borz’ for the upcoming UFC 284 event featuring Islam Makhachev vs Alexander Volkanovski as the main event on Feb 12, 2023. As Whittaker clarifies his exchange with the UFC, he claimed was never offered Chimaev or someone from the middleweight division.

In an interview with FoxSports MainEvent, Whittaker was asked if he was offered, Khamzat Chimaev in Perth for UFC 284.

Then, Whittaker responded “Okay, I wasn’t offered anybody. Just clarify things I wasn’t offered anybody.”

It was just uh… look we can’t get (Paulo) Costa across the line so we’re looking to reschedule in March (or) April.”

“UFC didn’t want to just give me any fight they want me to fight someone specific in March (or) April. So I’m curious to find out who they want me fighting.”

However, he mentioned that the UFC wants him to fight someone distinct and even he has no knowledge of this mystery contender. Perhaps it could be Chimaev and maybe ‘The Reaper’ just can’t talk about it yet.
