Jorge Masvidal takes on Kamaru Usman this weekend at UFC 261 as the duo rematches with the undisputed welterweight gold on the line. The champion, Usman, got the better of Masvidal in their previous clash at UFC 251.
Anticipations are high to see what ‘Gamebred’ can do with a full training camp under his belt as he stepped up on 6 days’ notice last time. Both fighters are aware of their counterpart’s strengths and weaknesses, having already fought once. In the recent UFC 261 Countdown video, Masvidal shared his assessment of ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’.

“I definitely learned things in the first fight that I learned in the rematch. The first thing being, he hits, not hard at all. He’s one of the softest hitters I’ve ever been in front of, period, God didn’t bless him with that manliness where he can hurt another man with his fists. It must suck to live that. The game in both of us, mine is way better, in game, I mean the ability to fight through pain and fatigue. This guy is not a mean person,” said Masvidal. (h/t BJPENN.com)
The pay-per-view event will feature two other title fights with the women’s strawweight and flyweight thrones on the line. Also, there will fans back in the arena in Jacksonville, Florida in a UFC event in the US for the first time since lockdown restrictions regarding coronavirus started.

Can Jorge Masvidal alter the outcome in the rematch at UFC 261?
‘Gamebred‘ will look to prove that he can indeed beat Usman with a fight camp. However, it’s easier said than done. There’s no doubt he will be better prepared and well-conditioned, but so will Usman as he prepares for Masvidal with a full camp.

The most decisive aspect of this fight will reside on which fighter can impose their will over the other. Masvidal certainly has the pedigree to knockout any individual. And his assessment of ‘The Nigerian Nightmare‘ suggests he is not worried about the offerings coming back from his opponent.
