UFC Fight Night: Makhachev vs Moises- Daniel Rodriguez vs Preston Parsons: Prelims Prediction and Analysis

UFC Fight Night: Makhachev vs Moises will see a welterweight clash between Daniel Rodriguez and Preston Parsons go down in the welterweight division of the UFC. Rodriguez earned an impressive win against ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry in his last fight. Parsons, on the other hand, will be making his UFC debut when he steps inside the Octagon this weekend.
‘D-Rod’ has been fighting in the UFC since 2020. A submission win against veteran Tim Means started the former Dana White’s Contender Series alumni’s career in spectacular fashion. He has since competed 5 times in the organization, winning 4 of them. A decision loss to Nicolas Dalby is the only stain in his promotional career.
Parsons has previously competed in organizations like Combat Night, Titan FC, and more during his career. However, the fight against ‘D-Rod’ will be his first chance to perform under the bright lights of the UFC. He is certainly a supreme submission artist with a professional record of 9-2. All 9 of his career wins have come through submission.

Rodriguez has a professional record of 14-2. 11 of his professional wins (7 T/KO and 4 submissions) have come via finishes. A finish this weekend will earn him the third stoppage of his UFC career so far.
Daniel Rodriguez vs Preston Parsons: Analysis
‘D-Rod’ is a very promising star in the 170 lbs division of the UFC. Rodriguez, who possesses a very complete skill set, has decent striking and grappling. Also, one might argue he should have won in what was his only loss in the UFC.

Parsons is a short-notice replacement for Rodriguez’s original opponent Abubakar Nurmagomedov. However, he is a decent fighter, especially when the contest hits the mat. The long list of submission finishes in his resume is a testament to the same.

But ‘D-Rod’ has very good grappling skills and great takedown defense. Also, he has yet to lose a fight via submission. So, he might just be able to neutralize Parson’s skills there. As Rodriguez’s striking might just be too good for Parson to handle, ‘D-Rod’ might get a late first-round finish.
