UFC Mexico Brawl: Dana White Puts the Blame on UFC Security – “I Was Watching It but Nobody Stopped It”

UFC Mexico City was already wild, with the fights inside the Octagon. However, the event is making headlines not only for the intensity inside the cage but also for a brawl that broke out outside of it. As the fighters were throwing ha͏nds inside the octagon, the fans were throwing theirs in the stands.
Just before the match between Manuel Torres and Chris Duncan concluded at UFC Mexico City, certain fans indulged in an all-out brawl. This was UFC’s second instance within a year, where fights happened outside the octagon. Dana White, in the meantime, has come forward to give his opinion on the incident.

The ever-famous brawl between Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis in the stands at UFC 296 stands out as one of the most unexpected fights. Their brawl put the UFC head honcho, Dana White, in a peculiar position as he was grilled by the MMA community about the security standards at UFC events. White expected nothing like that to happen again in the UFC but seems like he was wrong.
UFC Mexico City saw a brawl outside the octagon which has again put White in a peculiar position. At the post-fight presser, White was inquired by the media about the preparedness of the security. In response, Dana White had one thing to say, “…that never happens, literally never happens. It happened here in Mexico City.”

He continued, “The crazy thing about that fight is when that fight broke out and felt like it would keep going on forever, so I ran over there, and I was watching it, but nobody stopped it. I mean, I was waiting for the security to come; they just let him go till it was over. That’s one of the craziest things I have ever seen. I don’t think it’s a bad look for the UFC; it happened, and you know, that was the end of that.”

The reason behind the brawl at UFC Mexico

The fans were very vocal while witnessing the fight, not only enjoying the action inside the octagon but also reveling in the excitement outside it. The brawl broke out when there was an argument between the spectators. The duo started indulging in a fight and it spread like wildfire between the two groups.
From various videos, it can be seen that the fight was a 3 vs 5. The tension started between two people but spread to the others shortly. Nevertheless, they fell short when they encountered a barrage of unexpected punches that knocked them off balance. The security didn’t even intervene in the brawl and let it calm down on its own.

This has raised some serious doubts regarding the security arrangements by Dana White. However, no one got seriously hurt in the brawl, and in the end, everything calmed down on its own.
