UFC boss Dana White is at that point after 30 years of hard work where he is his own competition. Dana White and Co. always increase their game a notch every year, as they did for 2024 as well. UFC 306 marked one of the biggest and most extravagant events this year, and now White wants to expand his horizons. After Saudi Arabia, it seems like the boss has plans for other countries. He even hinted at the same during a UFC 308 press conference.
Do you remember a Spanish reporter asking him about his plans for Spain? Guess what? That dream might be coming true! However, according to the coach of the Topuria brothers, White might not immediately start with a pay-per-view.
Jorge Clement sat down with Pros Pick and revealed that Spain was very much in the picture but not with a PPV yet. He said, “Maybe Spain is not prepared to have a UFC with the number you know? They want to do first a Fight Night. And for this, we need to have fighters. Good, you know a good level. Not only does the champion cause the champion to fight in a ‘number’ UFC. They say first we want Fight Night.”

“I’m sure he sells out El Bernabéu and not just of Spanish fans,” Clement said to MMA Junkie. “Spain is the destination where all Europeans go on vacation. It’s very easy to come here and realize what paradise Spain is, so yeah, I’m sure he sells it out.” Ilia Topuria is definitely in the limelight right now and booking him in Spain could be a blockbuster event, but what did Dana White say about his choice of Spain as a fight destination?
Dana White declared his choice of city inside Spain for a UFC fight
A Spanish reporter asked the boss if the destination would be Los Blancos’s ground, Santiago Bernabéu, for any future fight in Spain. White declared that Spain was definitely on the list of destinations, but the event host could be either Madrid or Barcelona. “We’re talking to Madrid and Barcelona. That’s who we’re talking to,” the UFC CEO declared.

What’s your perspective on:
Is Spain ready to embrace UFC, or is Dana White jumping the gun with his plans?
Have an interesting take?
Topuria, a huge Real Madrid fan, was slightly disappointed to hear Barcelona’s name, but White cheered him up with a fist bump later. Topuria is already a huge phenomenon in his home country, so fans will flock to see him fight no matter which city they go to.
Just after winning the UFC featherweight title at UFC 298, the Spaniard met with the president of Spain and participated in the honorary kick-off at the Real Madrid vs. Sevilla game. He also appeared on the biggest talk shows in the country. Dana White might cash in on this attention ‘El Matador’ has garnered because this will surely help his promotion.
