UFC Star Believes Martial Arts Icon Bruce Lee ‘Does Not Deserve the Credit’ as He ‘Couldn’t Fight’

The former UFC middleweight contender is a clever wordsmith and used to be a master trash-talker. The veteran of combat sports analyzes each UFC match on his YouTube channel and provides his opinion. Recently, Sonnen made some harsh comments on Hollywood legend, Bruce Lee.

Lee influenced many people all over the world to pursue martial arts. But Sonnen slammed his ability to fight opponents. According to the people’s champion, it wouldn’t take much of a fighter to beat up the actor.

Chael Sonnen slammed Bruce Lee’s fighting ability

The American Gangster felt we should regard Bruce Lee for his teachings and not his fighting ability. In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Sonnen said “Bruce’s philosophy turned out to be true even though his ability to fight sucked.”

The MMA analyst always made a point to clarify to people their misconceptions regarding Bruce Lee. The BJJ black belt stressed that Lee gets too much credit because of misinformation. “Whenever I talk about Bruce Lee, I feel a need. I have an urge that’s stronger than my ability to be polite. To make sure that I include that he couldn’t fight.”

The ex-UFC fighter made it clear that Lee does not deserve to be helmed as an actual fighter. Because of his lack of experience in proper tournaments and being a champion.

Chael Sonnen appreciated Bruce Lee for his teachings and claimed they still stood up. “I took a shot at Bruce Lee… I was talking about the philosophies of Bruce Lee.” “I was complimenting them that they held up”. But explained his opinion on the Hollywood legend’s fighting skills. He claimed many low-level opponents are also capable of taking on the master of martial arts.

Some of them never to a major promotion. Most of them never to the top of a card, world title opportunity or the world title, but they would all beat up Bruce Lee really fast.”
