Marion Reneau faced the returning Miesha Tate at UFC Vegas 31. The 44-year-old fighter was coming into this fight on the back of 4 consecutive losses. Therefore, many did not think that ‘The Belizean Bruiser’ stood any chance against the former champion.
Therefore, as Tate won the fight via a third-round TKO, not many were surprised by the result. This fight would be Reneau’s last, as even before the fight began the 44-year-old fighter had announced that she would retire from MMA after this clash.
Reneau seemed content with her decision to retire and feels that this is the right time. While speaking to MMA Junkie before her fight against Tate, she talked about the same.

She said, “I’m good, I am good, I’m looking forward to not stepping on the scale again, Well I am looking forward to eating whatever I want, I am looking forward to being less obsessive with the game. I threw my entire self into mixed martial arts 15 years ago when I started, and I didn’t stop.”
“I didn’t stop for a reunion, I didn’t stop for a death in the family, not for a party. Nothing. I obsessed. I think it’ll be rewarding to be less obsessive.”

Reneau had a fine start to her MMA career winning 6 out of her 7 fights and beating the likes of Jessica Andrade in the process. However, Reneau could never reach great fights as she ended her career with a record of (9-8-1.) Her loss against Tate was her 5th in a row, and at 44 years old, Reneau decided that it was over for her.
While Reneau might not have become a champion in her MMA career, she still gave it her all whenever she stepped inside the ring. Therefore, we as fans will certainly miss seeing ‘The Belizean Bruiser’ compete inside the Octagon.
