Donald Cerrone might have shot himself in the foot with his overwhelming honesty. Dana White has refused to let him compete in the UFC again because Cowboywas too honest about the PEDs that he confessed to taking to have a more youthful physique. There was no question that Cerrone was one of the most popular and liked fighters during his prime, but those days seem far back in the past now. Cerrone’s open confession of taking PEDs was also not taken nicely by his final opponent Jim Miller who spoke about the same.

Miller was adamant at not admonishing anyone for deciding to fight again but he did admit that he did not prefer the situation with Cerrone. “I have a tough time telling other grown men what to do, Miller told MMA Fighting. “I don’t believe in it. But the fact that he was very, very open with his use of performance enhancers and the way the majority of his last fights went. He got knocked out quite a few times and that’s not healing from going on a little [testosterone replacement therapy] or whatever. I’m not super into it, to be 100 percent honest.”

Cerrone had suffered four KO losses and one submission loss during the final seven UFC fights in his career. But to his credit, three of those KO losses came in a span of a few months in 2019-2020 and were to Conor McGregor, Justin Gaethje, and Tony Ferguson. Then he hung up his gloves after a July 2022 loss against Miller but now he is planning to come back. One huge factor that is a hindrance other than the PEDs is time. He is already in his 40s and the damage his body took from all the fights is also an issue. On top of that, he has to undergo 6 months of testing before he can be allowed to fight

“It’s not my call, Miller said further. “It’s up to him and his team and if they want him to get punched in the head again, do your thing. I’m not a very big fan of the whole steroid vacation thing. What are we doing? But he’s going to do what he wants to do.

Miller, in the same age bracket as Cerrone, clearly stated that he does not want to dictate to another fighter what to do and he is keeping his focus on his training. Following a win at UFC 309 Miller declared that he wanted to have 50 fights in UFC before he retires. On the other hand, Cerrone wants to come back from retirement but Dana White is against the same.

Dana White does not want Donald Cerrone to come back into UFC

Cerrone retired in 2022 after suffering a guillotine choke loss against Jim Miller, which was his 14th UFC loss and sixth in a row. However, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame after that and this might have made the lightweight want to fight again. This announcement has caught the attention of Dana White, but he seems to have a different opinion.

White told Robert Griffin III and his wife Grete on the ‘Outta Pocket’ interview, “The day that you decided to retire, it was for a reason… Let’s say I say, ‘Alright Cowboy, come back and you can get two more fights.’ That’s just gonna be it, he just wants two more fights? No, it’s not, and he’s already proved everything there is to prove, and I don’t wanna see him take any more damage.”

On top of that, Chael Sonnen echoed the same sentiment saying that White would never let him fight again. The American Gangsteralso pointed out that even if Cerrone stops the PED usage, it is not enough to get him a contract.  The boss declared that he would look for an alternative for his favorite fighter if Cerrone was returning for financial gains.
