VIDEO: Ronda Rousey Shares Story of Defeating an Opponent Who Dislocated Her Arm Using an Illegal Throw: “My Favorite Match Ever”

Ronda Rousey may have retired from MMA, but her combat career is far from done. She has her own YouTube channel where she uploads combat-related content. In a recent video, too, she was seen teaching her viewers new moves. However, it was a particular story she related in-between which caught a lot of attention.

Rousey said, “So the 2007 world championships, I was fighting Edith Bosch, and she did a waki gatami, which is illegal throw in Judo that dislocates your arm on the way down.”

“So she didn’t get a score, but she dislocated my arm. I had to pop it back in like a big girl. … And there like, 20 something seconds left, and I was behind by yuko, which was a pretty, you know, it was a good size score.”

“And at the very end, this exact sequence happened where I grabbed the gi and she turned in for a harai makikomi at the same time that I turned in for a sode.”

“And then the one hand came off. … I was in the finals! My favorite match ever.”

Further in the video, ‘Rowdy‘ gave advice on how to capitalize on openings while in a fight. She also explained the difference between wrestling and judo.

Post her Olympic run, Ronda Rousey got into MMA and achieved success. Her entry and exit from the UFC are still widely talked about.

Ronda Rousey: Will she get back to MMA?

Ronda Rousey immensely contributed to women’s MMA with stupendous displays at the UFC and Strikeforce. However, after experiencing two back-to-back losses, the former women’s bantamweight champion retired from MMA with no plans of returning.

Surprisingly, there is just one opponent who can get her back to MMA. It is none other than retired fighter, Gina Carano. She is busy with her career as an actress and doesn’t intend to come back. However, Ronda Rousey has a lot of respect for her and hence, Carano is the only opponent she would come back for.
