Arguably the greatest of all time, Cain Velasquez ruled over the promotion for almost a decade. Plagued by injuries and brief hiatuses, the former UFC heavyweight champion then ventured into professional wrestling as he hung his MMA gloves in 2019. However, the American fighter, who had a brief stint with WWE too, recently found himself knee-deep in a legal battle. While the legal battle is far from conclusion, the fans and fighters alike have rallied their support for the now retired-MMA fighter. What came as a piece of delightful news for the fans, ‘Cardio Cain’ recently got awarded bail. Besides spending valuable time with his family, he also returned to the place he called ‘home’.

Instead of soaking in the comforts that he missed behind the bars, the 40-year-old offered to extend his wisdom to the American Kickboxing Academy. The California-born resolved to assist the young crop of fighters of the gym that helped him grow and steered his career. Amidst this commitment, he also fell victim to the renowned MMA coach Javier Mendez’s leg pulling.

Mendez jokes around with former champion Cain Velasquez

As the 14-3 record holder entered the gym in San Jose, Mendez refused to recognize the intruder and constantly enquired him about his identity.

Thus, he asked, “Who is this guy? Are you in the wrong place? You’re here because who are you?”

Perplexed by the reaction, the MMA fighter-turned-professional wrestler sought a clarification of the statement.

However, the 52-year-old continued his prank and said, “You just can’t walk past me without saying anything. Who are you? What are you doing here? I don’t recognize you.”

Following this, Velasquez gave a heartfelt response as he announced, “I’m home.”

Despite this emotional reply, it didn’t stop Mendez from drawing a parallel to a younger version of the fighter. Thus, he pointed out, “You’re home? You look familiar, but you’re kind of bald.”

“The guy I remembered they looked like you had a little bit of hair. You’re a baldy guy,” he added later on.

Subsequently, the fans could witness the UFC legend sparring with the gym associates and imparting knowledge to them.
