Conor McGregor has never actually fought for Bellator. But, he made his presence felt when his close friend, Charlie Ward, made his debut against John Redmond at Bellator 187. On 10th November 2017, Conor McGregor stepped into the cage before the referee could confirm the winner. Referee Marc Goddard, who is a Black-belt in jiu-jitsu was unhappy with the UFC star and they both had a tussle right there.

McGregor, despite not being a licensed cornerman for the fight, entered the cage before the fight was over. The ‘Notorious’ also had a verbal argument with the referee, who is physically bigger than McGregor. The former two-division champion also slapped a Bellator employee during the incident. Later on Instagram, McGregor apologized for his actions, but blamed the referee saying “The referee Marc Goddard [sic] was making a horrendous decision in trying to pick an unconscious fighter up off the floor and force the fight to continue into the second round,”.
