Dr. Beau Hightower, director of sports medicine for the Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA team gives his expert insights. He explained how fighters feel after going through a gruesome 15-20 min fight. As an expert he feels that the damage is quite extraordinary in some of the fighters, depending on the fight.

He said, “It’s really damaging to the body. I would liken it to being in several car wrecks. When fighters get up the next day, they oftentimes can’t walk for a few steps, and then they’re hobbling around.”
This reveals how difficult it is for a fighter to go through a battle inside the octagon. Moreover, the accumulation of injuries leads to life-threatening injuries that persist throughout the course of a lifetime.
