After a 15-month break, Tom Aspinall is stepping into his biggest test yet. The English heavyweight has been thrilling audiences and fans under the shadow of stalwarts like Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou. An interim champion since November 2023, he will now face Ciryl Gane as the UFC’s undisputed heavyweight champion in his first undisputed title defense. While this is a formidable challenge, the Salford-born fighter also has a huge opportunity. A win over Gane, a former interim champion, would cement his status as one of the promotion’s biggest draws.

Tom Aspinall’s UFC salary, fight purses, and bonuses

In his last bout, defending the interim title against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304, Aspinall reportedly earned around $500,000. This was slightly less than what he made eight months earlier when he knocked out Sergei Pavlovich in the first round to claim the interim heavyweight championship, earning Performance of the Night honors as well. Combining his $500,000 base, $500,000 win bonus, approximately $100,000 in PPV share, and $50,000 performance bonus, his total earnings for the night exceeded $1 million.

A slightly smaller payout awaited him for his fight against Marcin Tybura at Fight Night London, which earned him over $300,000. This included a $150,000 base salary, a $150,000 win bonus, and a $50,000 performance bonus.

The year 2022 proved particularly lucrative for Aspinall. He headlined two Fight Nights, first facing Alexander Volkov in March and then Curtis Blaydes in July. From the consecutive appearances, he roughly earned over $350,000. So it may surprise some that Aspinall started with a modest $20,000 base salary back in 2020.

However, consistent performances and multiple Performance of the Night awards gradually increased his payouts. For instance, his 2021 bout against Andrei Arlovski earned him $93,500. Later, his first six-figure payday came when he defeated Serghei Spivac in the first round, earning around $154,000 (including base, win, and performance bonuses).

Although details about the upcoming bout remain limited, it is certain that Aspinall is in line for yet another landmark purse.

Tom Aspinall’s UFC contract

This is supported by the fact that Aspinall signed a contract for his first fight as the UFC’s undisputed heavyweight champion. The development followed the complications surrounding former champion Jon Jones. Aspinall was officially recognized as the undisputed champion at the UFC Baku post-fight press conference. Subsequently, he signed his next fight deal to defend the title.

Thus, if Aspinall wins on Saturday night, more lucrative deals are expected to follow.

Do you think the English champion will have a smooth ride against Ciryl Gane, or can he expect a tough fight?
