Phoenix Mercury Center Brittney Griner recently set foot on home soil after an exchange took place involving a Russian arms dealer. When the basketball player returned to the USA after a 10-month-long Russian imprisonment, the entire nation took a sigh of relief. However, UFC star Derek Brunson, who recently sustained an injury and thereby withdrew from his Dec. 3 bout, made use of the leisure time to post a hilarious take on the recent Brittney Griner development.

The middleweight fighter took to Twitter and hinted at how the 8x WNBA All-Star would react whenever the games would play the national anthem.

The news of Griner’s homecoming elated the NBA community. However, the Kill Cliff FC team representative perceived the development from a different lens.

This was not the first time the #5 ranked middleweight fighter tweeted about Griner. Earlier, he made a peculiar comparison of the trade deal with an NFL superstar and a character played by Adam Sandler.

The UFC star compared the trade with NFL superstar Tom Brady and an Adam Sandler character, Bobby Boucher from the movie- The Waterboy.

Seemingly unimpressed by the deal, he wrote, “Trading Viktor Bout for Brittney Griner is like trading Tom Brady for Bobby Boucher 😂😂😂😂 . Who won that trade !?!?”

Away from social media, Brunson will look to prove that he can make one final run to compete for the title.

38-year-old Brunson has faced the best of the division ever since his debut in 2012. On a five-fight win streak, Jared Cannonier denied him the opportunity to make it 6 in a row in an unofficial title eliminator.

After his loss against ‘Tha Killa Gorilla’, Brunson vowed to pick himself for one more fight. It will be interesting to see who he fights next. Will the UFC re-book him against Jack Hermansson?
