Fighting before the home crowd, Alexander Volkanovski will have a shot at history to become part of an exclusive elite group in UFC history. As the Australian squares off against Islam Makhachev at UFC 284, he can join the likes of Conor McGregor and Daniel Cormier and further cement his legacy in promotion as the ‘double champ’. Notably, ‘The Great’ will move up a division and challenge the newly crowned lightweight division king on February 12, 2023, inside the RAC Arena. However, moving up a weight class comes with its own set of challenges. Even more when the pocket dynamo Australian already fights opponents taller than him in featherweight. Besides, the homegrown fighter will try to fend off the dominant force that his opponent is with sambo skills.

Despite the concerns, the #1 P4P fighter remains a force to be reckoned with, as evidenced by his unbeaten streak that stretches back to 2013 and 4 title defenses against famed Max Holloway, Jung Chan-sung, and Brian Ortega.
