Curtis Blades talks about his matchup with Jailton Almeida
Curtis Blaydes was set to take on Jailton Almeida back in November. However, he had to pull out of the fight due to an injury. This left the Brazilian taking on Derick Lewis, which he won via. unanimous decision after going the entire 5 rounds. Despite an amazing performance, “Razor” did not seem too pleased with Almeida’s performance.
During an interview with Ariel Helwani, the no. 5 ranked UFC heavyweight gave his take on the matchup against the no.7th ranked fighter. He said, “I’m going to be honest. I told everybody I wasn’t very impressed with the jiu-jitsu. He was able to take him down. He spent a lot of time on top. I thought he had a deeper jiu-jitsu bag, thought he had some high-level slick stuff. I didn’t really see anything that was extra scary.”
