Veteran welterweight fighter and perennial title contender Jorge Masvidal has taken a jibe at Leon Edwards. The fighters have a brief history between them. The BMF didn’t like the latter’s trash-talking following UFC London in March 2019.
He was coming after knocking out Darren Till in the main event and was in the middle of the interview when ‘Rocky’ Leon interrupted him. After a few words were exchanged, Masvidal confronted him and engaged in a scuffle before security personnel separated them.

Edwards will fight Nate Diaz one month later at UFC 262 in the first-ever five-round non-title co-main event in promotion’s history. He is coming off of a controversial No Contest with Belal Muhammad that saw the fight end prematurely in the second round due to an eye poke.
The good news for Edwards is that he didn’t lose that fight, so he technically still has a nine-fight unbeaten streak going, which is one of the longest streaks in the division.

It highly likely that the winner of this UFC 262 co-main event is going to take on the winner of the bout between Usman and Masvidal. So the path for a collision between both of them is quite simple. Masvidal and Edwards will need to win their respective fights, to set up a clash that could be booked in the fall.
Masvidal and Edwards have never faced off against each other. This is a fresh clash, with an intriguing backstory, and would sell an insane number of PPVs.
