UFC featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski recently took to Twitter to post a photo of him in tremendous shape ahead of UFC 266. Volkanovski is set to defend his featherweight title against Brian Ortega later this month. This will be the Aussie’s second defense of his title.
He won the belt against Max Holloway at UFC 245. The duo clashed in a rematch at UFC 251 later with Volkanovski coming out on top via a split decision. However, many thought ‘Blessed’ was robbed, having scored two knockdowns in a razor-close contest. But, it’s hard to not give Volkanovski the credit for getting two back-to-back wins against the consensus greatest featherweight of all time.

Volkanovski already holds wins over some of the very best fighters of all time of the featherweight division in Jose Aldo, Max Holloway, Chad Mendes, and more. So, adding Ortega to the list will further raise his argument about being the greatest 145-pounder of all time.

Ortega looked a rejuvenated version of himself in his last fight against Chan Sung Jung. It was his return to the Octagon after being battered by Holloway at UFC 231. But he looked massively improved and will look to maximize on his second title shot. Needless to mention, he is a wizard in terms of grappling and submission skills. But it looks like his stand-up has improved massively as well.
However, Volkanovski is a different animal. It will be Ortega’s toughest test to date, along with the fight against Holloway. If he can showcase his 2.0 version and eventually become a UFC champion, remains to be seen.
