The craziest thing Israel Adesanya did to cut weight

Recently, Bleacher Report shared a video in a tweet that had the netizens holding their sides. The American Journalist, Taylor Rooks, asked the UFC middleweight division champion, Israel Adesanya, “What’s the craziest thing that you have done to make weight?” Surprisingly, Adesanya goes on a laughing spree after hearing the question. Although he faltered and tried to avoid answering the question, the journalist put him in a tight spot.

Finally, Adesanya revealed the little secret he had for cutting weight. He said, “Back in kickboxing, back in the day when I was an amateur, when I was really young and had no… I didn’t have a fight dietician, who is the guy that looks after us. I wasn’t in the UFC. I, uh, busted a n*t to make weight.”

The two went off laughing, but Rooks wondered how much that weighed. The fighter replied, “At the time I was young and I was on that whole no before a fight. A few grams came off. 100 grams.” “You made weight”, exclaimed Rooks and the ‘Stylebender’ simply admitted, as the duo laughed it over.

However, Adesanya didn’t advise the fighters the same. He said, “I wouldn’t advise it. Hey, I was younger back then. It was like 21, 22. I didn’t know what I was doing with weight cutting.”

‘The Stylebender’ will defend his title against Alex ‘Poatan’ Pereira in the upcoming main event of UFC 281. Adesanya has lost a couple of fights to Pereira in kickboxing, and the two have a history of rivalry. The Nigerian fighter claimed that his previous losses didn’t affect him in a conversation with Yahoo Sports. Furthermore, he has expressed his doubts about ‘Poatan’ being a full-fledged MMA fighter, as both of them hail from the rings of kickboxing.

The fact that Pereira got a chance at the title has the fans confused. Adesanya took it upon himself and cleared the air that Pereira got into the fight just because of the history the two share. Furthermore, he claimed to expose the challenger. “But I’ll expose him”, he said. “I’ll expose him, yeah. He’s only here because of me, and it was favorable.”
