All’s well that ends well,” the Bard wrote. But what happens when the beginning itself is shaky? The buildup to UFC 320 sparked a frenzied discussion across social media. Headlined by Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira’s rematch, the stacked card is almost ready to be unveiled at the T-Mobile Arena. However, as some reports suggest, on its way to the grand finale, the event has already run into a few tremors.

The final press conference for UFC 320 is underway, and compared to past events, it appears to be drawing far less attention. As pundits debate the plunging viewership, one factor that may worry Dana White is competition from Thursday Night Football, where the Los Angeles Rams, featuring wideout Puka Nacua, a close friend of White’s family, are hosting the San Francisco 49ers.

Thursday Night Lights Out for UFC?

A tweet from Jed I. Goodman highlighted the viewership figures for all UFC events in 2025, and in comparison, the numbers for UFC 320 may raise concern. “The live #UFC320 press conference on the UFC YouTube channel peaked with 39.4K+ viewers (8:00 PM ET),” he wrote.

By contrast, the 6 p.m. stream of UFC 319 drew 110.7K viewers. UFC 318 had 46.2K viewers watching around the same time. Then, back in June, when Ilia Topuria and Charles Oliveira clashed for the vacant UFC lightweight title, the press conference pulled in a competitive 97K viewers.

One user pointed out another challenge. The participants in the UFC 320 main event – Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira – struggle with English. Thus making it difficult to spark engaging exchanges. For fans who tune in hoping for sharp trash talk, that can test their patience. Responding to the debate, Goodman suggested that the NFL and baseball playoffs may have also drawn viewers away.

Tough time. A little later than normal, plus NFL Thursday and baseball playoffs,” he said.

Meanwhile, UFC 320‘s press conference wasn’t short on drama. A fiery exchange erupted between Ankalaev and Pereira. Speaking Portuguese, the Brazilian challenger reflected on their last fight. “I was on my worst day, and that’s all he could do?” Pereira said. The light heavyweight champion shot back: “I did to you whatever I wanted to do. You’re ready now, so we’re gonna see on Saturday.

Beyond the headline rematch, the card is stacked. Merab Dvalishvili is set for his third title defense against Cory Sandhagen in the co-main event. Adding to the stakes in the light heavyweight division, top-ranked Jiri Prochazka will take on Khalil Rountree Jr.
