Aoki fought as a middleweight contender, and his favorite submission was the foot-lock during the time of the clip. The commentator for the fight expressed that the Japanese were a dangerous opponent to face, even then.

However, Abdelaziz was hopeful and brave going into the bout. As soon as the referee started the fight, Abdelaziz had slippy hands. At that moment, he went to grab the Japanese BJJ black belter and only caught air.
