According to his latest update, he recently experienced a serious recurrence of diverticulitis, which required another surgery.

Reaching out to friends and supporters who may have been concerned, Beltran posted a heartfelt message. He is in recovery. Staying positive, he was grateful for the support and said that he’ll be back soon. A United States Marine Corps veteran, Mike Beltran is widely recognized for his famous moustache. To my familia and friends, I unfortunately came down with diverticulitis again,” Beltran wrote. For those unfamiliar, diverticulitis is a painful condition that affects the colon. He had major surgery for it a few years ago, which had taken him out of work for a while.

Unfortunately, the condition returned. And this time, it was worse. “I’ve been hospitalized since Tuesday morning of this week,” Beltran shared, explaining that the doctors had to remove part of his infected colon. The surgery went well, and he is now in recovery.

Showing his positive nature, Beltran added, “This is a minor setback; however, I know I’ll be back soon… I’m smiling and have a good attitude because my rehabilitation will be with Coach Cal and @treigning_lab. Thank you 🙏🏽 to those we reached out to me with prayers. I will supporting my fellow official’s from home. For now, I’m focusing on my recovery ❤️‍🩹, health, and spirituality. See you guys soon.

One of the first voices came from none other than colleague Herb Dean. He wrote, “Brother, you got this!” I know we will be kicking it soon! 👊🏾” For those who know them, Dean and Beltran have been close friends for years, consistently wishing the best for one another. On social media, there is a photo of the two together at an RFA event. Reportedly, Beltran supported Dean when he pursued referee and judging courses.

Manny Pacquiao’s longtime trainer, Freddie Roach, also joined in wishing Beltran a speedy recovery. “Get well soon!!” the Hall of Fame coach said. Though they come from different fields, the respect between them is mutual.

UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson also sent prayers, love, and encouragement: “🙏🏽🙏🏽 Heal fast, big bro.” Did you know that Beltran officiated the fourth and final fight between Jackson and Wanderlei Silva at Bellator 206?
