The two biggest MMA promotions in the world, Bellator and UFC, are led by people who do not see eye to eye. Bellator led by Scott Coker, though significantly smaller than the UFC, is gaining on the MMA pioneer.

Bellator most recently secured the rights to be the first major MMA organization to host an event in Paris. This shows that Bellator is not here just to play second fiddle to the UFC.

In the most recent war of words between Coker and White, Coker mentioned that Bellator has the best light-heavyweight division in the world. This statement was made after Jon Jones announced his move to heavyweight. This comment did not sit well with UFC president Dana White.

White called Coker “Cute” for making such bold statements. While the Bellator has a stacked Light heavyweight division. The UFC is not far behind despite losing Jones.

While talking to the media ahead of Davis vs Machida 2, Coker made his case for Bellator having the best LHW division. He said:

We do have the best 205-pound division in the planet bar none so when you think about the fighters we have tonight, Machida then you have Nemkov. Gegard will eventually move up to 205 because he told me he wants to fight at 205. Corey Anderson is on board now. That group has become a very healthy, robust division for us.”

Scott added that Dana white’s comments about the fighters in the Bellator Light heavyweight division being “Guys that the UFC let go” were not true. Furthermore, the likes of Phil Davis and Lyoto Machida were free agents when Bellator signed them. The UFC did not release them. These fighters wanted to see what other promotions offered. Bellator gave them a better deal, so they signed.

Who do you think has the best Light heavyweight division? Bellator or the UFC?
