After weeks of no fights, the UFC is back in business. It is bigger and better than ever. Till now fighters have put up amazing performances at UFC 249. One of the fights that stood out was Niko Price vs Vincente Luque. A fight in which, Price suffered one of the nastiest injuries ever.
As most people might be aware, this was not their first collision. The duo met for the first time in 2017, where Luque finished off Price with a D’Arce choke in the second round.
Soon after his win over Price in 2017, Luque went on an impressive 6 fight win streak which was recently snapped by Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson.

Price, on the other hand, failed to find stability. Yet, he has some of the most unique knockouts and impressive wins in UFC history.

The duo fought each other at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. Here’s how the fight went down.
Both men put up an incredible performance. Price had moments in the first round when he landed a front kick to Luque’s face and then flurried against the cage. In the second round, Luque dropped Price with a combination, while he was against the cage.

Luque’s nasty left hooks made Price’s right cheek bleed and swell. This was the beginning of the end for Price. In the third round, Luque timed a perfect left hook which dropped Price.
When the referee called a time-out, the ringside physician was called in to examine Price’s injury. At this point, his eye had swollen up with two cuts next to it. The doctor had no choice but to call the bout off.

“I beat him last time, I knew he was not gonna come easy. He wanted to take my head off, I expected that. I’m an entertainer,” Luque said during the post-fight interview. “First event back from everything going on, I think I brought it.”
