UFC Lightweight contender Tim Elliott has faced a suspension of 9 months by USADA after testing positive for marijuana during his in-octagon appearance at Fight Night on May 30.
Elliott competed last against Ryan Benoit at Fight Night on July 15. However, he is expected to remain inactive for a brief period, following his suspension.
That said, Elliott has already voiced his disregard towards the decision and implored the NAC to give him a fair trial.

In the tweet, the American explained that he had no issues related to drug or chemical abuse in his eight-year-long promotional career.
Thus, he pleaded the NAC to give him a fair chance of defending himself, based on his track record and the fact that he took fights on brief notice.
Angela Hill offers support
I always worry about this happening to me taking short notice fights. Atheletes use it for recovery, not to run around high in a fight. Its crazy for the NAC to be so strict in a state where marijuana is legal. (Has to change my earlier tweet, my bad @usantidoping) #FreeElliot https://t.co/uGDNhk7QQY

Strawweight contender Angela Hill has burst into the public domain in a bid to back Elliott. Hill has also been taking fights under brief notice, and Elliott’s recent conundrum has left her feeling tense.
Angela ‘Overkill’ Hill said that athletes consume marijuana for recovery and not to enter the octagon ‘high’.
She also lashed out at the NAC for being overly strict as far as marijuana is concerned in a state where it is legal. No wonder the 35-year-old American also wants the Anti-Doping body to free Elliott.
What exactly happened with Elliott?
Elliott accepted to face Brandon Rovyal under a brief notice at the Fight night-Woodley vs Burns on May 30.

The featherweight bout ended in the second round with Rovyal claiming the win over Elliott with an arm-triangle submission. Later, it was found that Elliott contested under the influence of marijuana and was handed a suspension of 9 months.
Other than Elliott, light heavyweight contender Jamahal Hill faced similar charges from NAC and USADA. Hill faced Klidson Abreu in the same card on May 30 and notched an impressive KO win.
Thus, Hill was also slapped with a suspension of 9 months by USADA. His victory over Abreu is also expected to be ruled as a no-contest.
