However, Sonnen believes that even DC knows it’s not true but just said it to support his favorite horse in the race.

Sonnen said, “There ain’t a damn sentence in there that I agree with.”

“Daniel is a teammate, and I believe even a mentor to Islam… Daniel is really personalizing this and he’s saying man ‘I just know how good this guy is.”

Sonnen explained how DC really wants Makhachev to come out on top. And would really hate to see Volkanovski snubbing the title from him. But, in no way would it ever be considered the biggest upset in MMA.

In a YouTube video, ‘The People’s champion’ claimed that there have been many fights in the promotion’s history that upset MMA fans. And stressed that this fight wouldn’t come close to them, no matter how hard DC tries to prove otherwise.

Sonnen explained, “there has been a number of upsets in mixed martial arts…”

“you would say ‘like the night that Matt Serra beat George Saint Pierre!” and mentioned the historic UFC 69 match-up between GSP and Serra.

He also mentioned Ronda Rousey’s infamous first professional MMA defeat to Holly Holm, at UFC 193 to be “the biggest upset ever”. But, Chael Sonnen doesn’t believe that Volkanovski vs Makhachev would live up to the billing.
