For Ronnie, it was about love and never about the money

According to Coleman, it was because he found bodybuilding to be a fun activity and loved to do it. In an interview with bodybuilding.com in 2019, Ronnie was asked about his primary motivation for taking up and continuing bodybuilding. He answered the question by saying, “My primary motivation was that I was having fun and loved doing what I was doing. If you have fun, then that is enough motivation.”

Ronnie further added that money was never a driving factor, it was just an “added bonus“. He said, “I was getting paid too though, but that was just an added bonus. So just the love of the sport: that’s where my motivation came from.”

Ronnie Coleman has achieved a lot in his life with his zeal and dedication. More often than not, he has had to manage multiple things at the same time. The King shared that the sole reason he was able to achieve everything was the motivation he got through training and his love for what he did. He equated his job with having a hobby.

Ronnie followed the age-old philosophy, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life,” which served as his greatest motivation in life.
