In a recent interview, the Olympic champion revealed an unexpected decision that astounded her fandom. The interview was given to allkpop, an American website that focuses on Korean pop and gossip news. In that interview, the interviewer asked Kim about her child’s future in figure skating. Whether in the future if her children want to pursue a career in figure skating, then what will be her decision? Her reply astonished everyone. She said, “I would say absolutely not”. 

She further added, “I don’t think I have any regrets. I think I worked so hard to the point I couldn’t breath so I really have no regrets retiring.”

She further elaborated that since she had already pursued it, she wants her child to do a different thing. Conceding to this she added, “(Figure skating) is so hard so the last wish I had was that I don’t want to do anything that makes me out of breath but I think I need to have my heart race these days”. She also wants to have a normal life away from the worries of competition. She has no regret about retirement and is happy with her decision.

Kim Yuna: An Elegant Career

Kim Yuna, also known as “Queen Yuna,” started skating at the age of six and since then she has been unstoppable. In 2004, she entered the junior grand prix in Hungary and clinched gold. In 2006, competing in the last season of the junior level, she won gold in the world junior championship. The following year, she made her mark on the global stage by winning her first World Championships, becoming the first South Korean to achieve this feat.

In the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, Kim Yuna solidified her place as a figure skating legend. With her mesmerizing performance, she won the gold medal, setting a new world record score of 228.56 points in the process. In 2010 and 2011 she won silver in the world championship. After a hiatus of a year, she again won silver in the world championship in 2013. After winning silver in the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014, she announced her retirement.
