Did Jay Cutler unfairly lose to Ronnie Coleman in Olympia 2001? This has been a burning controversy in bodybuilding history till today. Jay Cutler candidly spoke about Wayne Demilia, who was at the center of this controversy. 

It seems like bodybuilding Champion Jay Cutler had a negative view about Wayne’s role in Olympia 2001. In his interview with Patrick-Bet-David, Wayne candidly responds to Jay Cutler and whether there was fair judging in Olympia competitions.

Wayne Demilia told in this interview how Jay Cutler thought that Wayne made him lose Mr. Olympia in 2001. He also made a statement that he was a promoter and did things for money.

Then, Wayne made an interesting statement. “Who’s going to sell me more tickets, a big white blonde guy or the big black guy? In this statement, Demilia hints that he could’ve made more money by making Cutler win. However, he did nothing and eventually, Ronnie Coleman was the legitimate winner.

What happened in Olympia 2001 when Jay Cutler lost 

In the 2001 Olympia, there were two pre-judging rounds on the first day. In these rounds, Jay Cutler was looking lean and his muscles had perfect symmetry, whereas Coleman’s body didn’t look in good shape.

While Cutler took a lead in both these rounds, Coleman, who earlier wasn’t in good shape, did well in the rounds after that. Surprisingly, his body and poses were better, and he won Olympia 2001, while Cutler became the runner-up. 

Olympia 2001 was a defining moment for both Jay Cutler and Ronnie Coleman. While Jay Cutler became more confident, Ronnie Coleman had an unforgettable, scary incident. In a talk, Coleman spoke about how he was near death during the Olympia competition. 

There were also rumours that Joe Weider put pressure on Demilia to make Ronnie Coleman win. Another rumor was that NPC Chairman Manion had a role in this fixing.
