Martial arts demigod, Bruce Lee and his wife Linda Lee Cadwell were married for nine years before the legend left the world. However, it was not just the nine years that marked their love for each other. Lee met his wife Linda way before they tied the knot. 

Linda Emery is a retired American English teacher. And, as a writer, she did a commendable job of preserving the little dragon’s legacy. Besides her reverence for her husband, she also was a staunch martial arts champion. Interestingly, her intrigue in martial arts got her to meet Bruce lee for the first time. Linda Lee Cadwell’s first meeting with Bruce lee

A couple of years ago, in an unearthed Youtube video, Linda was seen reminiscing about her college days and her first meeting with Bruce Lee. As per the video, Cadwell and Lee met at the University of Washington, where the Little Dragon worked as a martial arts trainer.

Recalling the episode, Linda stated, “he was teaching classes in Kung Fu”. And, she “took lessons from him”. She further recalled Lee’s dream of teaching martial arts to the American people and “to bring the beauty of his martial arts” to the world.

Further, Cadwell mentioned that Lee worked at the university to start on a very small basis toward his dream of teaching martial arts to the world. As per Linda, that was when they “came to know each other”. “And, I fell in love with my instructor”, added Cadwell.

All about Lee’s marriage and legacy

The Little Phoenix tied the knot with Linda on August 17, 1964. Interestingly, at the time of their marriage, Cadwell was just 19 and was in the final year of her graduation. The couple shared two children together. But however, their union didn’t last long, as, after nine years of their marriage, Lee passed away. 

Howbeit, Linda coped with the tragedy rather diligently and worked as a philanthropist to carry forward Lee’s golden bequest and his influential ways. Cadwell along with her daughter, Shannon Lee documented Lee’s teachings in the book “Be Water My friend”, to preserve the Little Dragon’s legacy.
