She finally earned the long-anticipated achievement, resetting the all-time overall skiing record of 86 World Cup wins by Ingemar Stenmark in 1989. Thus, marking her as the greatest skier of all time in history. 

In a subsequent Twitter post by NBC Olympics on 11th March, a montage of sports legends like Simone Biles, Peyton Manning, and Ingemar Stenmark himself, among other notable celebrities from the entertainment industry congratulating the skiing icon surfaced on the internet. A moment of G.O.A.Ts acknowledging the skiing G.O.A.T. Here’s what they had to say. 

Praise from the greats

As per the social media update, the video started off on an uplifting note, featuring Shiffrin’s winning footage from several of her races. Followed by Biles lauding her triumph. She said, “I just wanted to congratulate you on your record-breaking win recently.” Football quarterback great, Peyton Manning remarked, “becoming the greatest skier of all time. All that hard work has paid off.” Former pro baseball athlete, Derek Jeter hailed her for becoming the “all-time winningest” in the sport. While former freestyle skier, Gus Kenworthy shed light on her new title. “You’re the G.O.A.T,” he stated. The caption read, “Greatness recognizes greatness. Legends in sports and entertainment congratulate @MikaelaShiffrin on becoming the winningest World Cup alpine skier in history. “

Notably, Ingemar Stenmark too was presented in the video saying, “Congratulations to you, to breaking my record. It was fantastic.” Roger Federer seemed elated on the occasion and his reaction was indifferent to the others. Film star, Kate Winslet applauded the 27-year-old’s feat and deemed her a pioneer for great and powerful women all over. Other iconic personalities like Sue Bird, Ciara, Noah Lyles, Patrick Dimpsey, and Chloe Kim were also featured in the snippet chiming in with their acclaim. Additionally, she was also hailed by the entire world on the day she dissembled the historic number with heartwarming reactions.
