She also penned a quote by the icon that said, The power I exert in the court depends on the power of my arguments, not on my gender. As the world mourns the passing of the legend who was appointed to the court by President Reagan in 1981, it is important to note the significant contributions she has made to America.

The impact of FWOTSC Sandra Day O’Connor

Sandra Day O’Connor was the first woman to serve as a U.S. Supreme Court justice from 1981 to 2006. She even got the title of the most powerful woman in America while in court, as she held the deciding vote in major cases that held significance, like abortion, affirmative action, national security, campaign finance reform, separation of church and state, and states’ rights.

And she also played a huge role in the 2000 presidential elections of Bush v. Gore. And that’s not all. She was also one of three co-authors of the lead opinion in Planned Parenthood v. Casey. She was even awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama on August 12, 2009.
