As per the social media update posted today, the 38-year-old athlete saluted the seven-time Federation Cup winner. It was a moment of greats recognizing greats. “Such an inspiration! BJK has done so much for women and women in sports,” Vonn commented on the original post that was shared by the Women’s Sports Foundation on 19th March. A notable personality within the sports community, King perpetually challenges any hint of gender-biased sport dynamics. In 2022, she expressed her resentment toward prioritizing men’s matches at night, over women’s. “If [they] keep treating us like second-class citizens, we will stay second-class citizens,” she declared.

Reportedly, night sessions amassed a greater audience and fans could watch them for a longer duration than day matches. Thus, the French Open authorities favored the men’s category for the later part of the day, thus, calling for BJK’s concern over the matter. Additionally, only one out of 10-night matches was assigned to the women’s matches.
