People have idols they can relate. However, most children idolize their parents during their formative years. Lindsey Vonn, too, found her idol in her mother very early on.
While most people move on to find other idols later in life, Vonn has always considered her mother as being hers. And that emotion prevails into her adulthood.

Mother of Lindsey Vonn had a life consisting of hardships
Vonn’s mother, Linda Krohn, always inspired the alpine skier. The athlete witnessed the struggles of her mother since childhood. But Krohn remained firm in her resolve even during these trying times.
Krohn suffered a stroke when Vonn was born. The ordeal left her mother with a paralyzed left leg, causing her to walk with a limp. It inhibited her from performing various day-to-day tasks.

However, it did not stop her from avidly supporting her daughter during events. It led to the mother-daughter duo growing even closer over the years. Vonn reflected the sentiment during an ad campaign.
The three-time Olympic medalist said, “My mom’s always been supportive and loving no matter how I do or how successful I am. She’s always been a great person for all of us to look up to. Just watching her not being able to physically do some of the things that she wanted to do because of the stroke.”
However, her mother could not attend some of the athlete’s events due to her condition. But she would not dare to miss any of her daughter’s events, as she would watch them on screen. The four-time Olympian addressed this during an ad campaign.
Recollecting the years she was competing, Vonn said, “I’m out there skiing and doing what I love and she can’t participate. But she is always there and she’s watching and she’s cheering for me.”
Vonn’s emotional speech at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony
Lindsey Vonn recently attended the USOP Hall of Fame induction ceremony on June 24. The committee nominated Vonn for the Class of 2022 batch. Finalists for the ceremony were selected based on votes.

And when the committee released the list of finalists early in June, Vonn had made the cut. During the ceremony, Lindsey made a heartfelt speech and dedicated the honor to her mother.
The skier teared up while speaking about her mother’s ongoing struggle with ALS, a neurological disease that affects the nerve cells controlling the voluntary movement of muscles.

Watching a loved one battle a terminal disease can be distressing for the entire family. But in dedicating an athlete’s highest honor to her mother, she has immortalized her mother’s legacy.
