Mikaela Shiffrin is soon to challenge Ingemar Stenmark’s massive record of 86 wins, trailing behind with just one win away. The Queen of alpine skiing is on her way to attaining new heights of success. Hence, Shiffrin’s status as a G.O.A.T. might’ve turned a bit overwhelming for the athlete. Talking to Eurosport, she opened up about her viewpoint on the four-letter word.

She was interviewed by former ski racer, Tina Amaze, and gave the world a piece of her mind. Narrating what the word actually meant to her, she also had a humorous take on it.

In the interview with Eurosport on the 7th of February, the 27-year-old champion revealed her stance on being labeled as the greatest of all time. Shiffrin retorted with a hilarious statement. She said, “It’s a funny term isn’t it, because all I can see is like a baby goat you know running around and like bah.”

Eventually, getting to her point, she added that the status feels quite strange to her since her understanding of the word does not align with the usual one. “It’s strange yeah because I like I still think that like you’re one of the greatest of all time or I think that like, Lindsay for sure what she did in her career was incredible. Ingemar, okay maybe I can surpass him in numbers, but I can’t surpass his legacy,” the 6x World Champion mindfully declared.

Additionally, she emphasized on the various struggles athletes have to deal with in order to get where they want to be. Hence, every story stands as inspirational. “So I think there’s more than one G.O.A.T. and I guess maybe that’s how I choose to think about it but there are too many amazing stories in ski racing over the years,” she admitted. On a similar note, Shiffrin’s other half once applauded her historic 83rd win with a message.
