While Usain Bolt has won at many Olympics, there was one mega-quadrennial game that was the starting point of his legendary career. Back in 2008, Bolt took over the spotlight at the Beijing Olympics.

As the 2022 Winter Olympics is scheduled in Beijing next month, Bolt recalls his time in China. The Track legend dwelled upon the impact Beijing Games had on his career.

Usain says the Beijing Olympics 2008 was the turning point in his life

Even though he made his Olympic debut in 2004 at the Athens Olympics, it was not the year he ran to glory. Four years later, the tall and young Jamaican produced jaw-dropping performances at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and took the world by surprise.

Recalling the first golden period of his life, Bolt emphasized the value the 2008 Beijing Olympics had on his career. ”In Beijing, my life changed completely. I still remember the details of each of my big races. I will always have Beijing in my heart, it’s where it all began. Those 2008 Olympics changed my life in less than 30 seconds. The crowd and the energy in 2008 at the Bird’s Nest stadium was unreal,” Usain said.

Bolt claimed his position as the king of track and field, winning the gold medal in 100m and 200m races. Notably, Usain also broke the 100m world record by clocking the astonishing time of 9.69 seconds.

Winter Olympics sports are not popular in Jamaica, hence, Bolt admitted he has no knowledge about the sport. He also added that he won’t attend the games because of the cold weather as he prefers the heat more.
