“I Would Have Laughed” – Sha’Carri Richardson Shares Emotional Throwback Picture From High School, Reveals She Never Dreamt of Making It This Big

Sha’Carri Richardson is one of the rising sprinters of the US. In 2021, she set impressive timing at the Olympic trials. However, after failing a drug test, she could not compete in the big games. At a very young age, the athlete is confident and often declares open challenges on fellow athletes. Notably, her rivalry with Jamaican athlete Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce is quite well known.

The athlete is currently 22 years old and the 6th fastest woman. Richardson was raised by her grandmother and had her own share of struggles while growing up.

Before she became an Olympian, the Dallas native competed for Carter High School. It was here that the coach recognized her talent for track and field.

Sha’Carri Richardson is an alumnus of the Carter High School in Dallas. During her freshman year, new coach Lauren Cross immediately recognized Richardson’s talent and dedication to running. Her coach revealed that Richardson has been extremely hard-working and takes the sport seriously.

The young sprinter recently shared a photo of her from her high school days via her Instagram story. She confessed that she never knew back then that she would go on to become one of the fastest women alive.

“High school only 4 years ago,” shared Richardson. She graduated from Carter High School in 2018 but even now represents the school occasionally.

“If anybody told me, this was my future, I would have laughed in your face.”

While in school, Richardson won many accolades in athletics. Even after she qualified for the Olympics, Richardson is proud of where she comes from.

Sha’Carri Richardson’s high school coach is extremely proud of her. She worked so hard to get where she is today, and her coach feels honored to have gotten the chance to be her mentor.

“I’m just so proud of Sha’Carri,” Cross said. “It doesn’t matter where you come from or what your situation is as long as you stay focused, you can achieve your goals,” said her former coach.

Even for the students of Carter High School, Richardson is an inspiration. She beat all odds to get to the world stage, and it makes the students believe that they too can achieve the same.
