Abby Steiner sets the pace

She had a school-record run of 10.92 seconds and the second-fastest 200m in UKTF history with a time of 22.38. Significantly, there were strong headwinds of 5.6 m/s. The winds did not affect her strides, nevertheless. Steiner had the fastest time in NCAA this season with the strong winds on the track. Both these races were picture-perfect for the talented American. Especially, the 100-meters race where she came back to win the race.

The talented superstar recovered from a poor start and rushed past her opponents to the finish line. One of her opponents was the silver medalist from the World Indoor 60-meter dash named Mikiah Brisco. Steiner’s top-end speed was on full display as she finished the line with a Boltesque finish. This was her first outdoor track performance with a time of sub 11 in the 100-meters, with no worries of high wind speed. Soon after her 100-meter dash, she returned after an hour for the 200-meters.

A prodigy

With a negative 5.6m/s, Steiner set a time of 22.38 seconds, even with that amount of wind speed. This is the third-fastest time for an athlete in the event this season. What’s more impressive is that it would be her wind-adjusted time, which comes up to 21.66 seconds. This time would also become the seventh-fastest time in the 200-meters of all time. That’s impressive. Florence Griffith-Joyner sets the pace with a time of 21.34 seconds and ranks at the top.
