Being the fastest man alive is a tag that one carries proudly on his shoulder. Usain Bolt trained hard for years to earn that title while winning many medals and setting world records to show for it. However, reliving the 2016 Rio Olympics, a fan named Anthony Brooks not only challenged Usain but also beat him in a virtual 100-meter vs Rubik’s Cube competition.

Usain Bolt vs Rubik’s Cube

While Usain donned the track, Brooks took his stance in his living room. He challenged Bolt during the 100-meters race, attempting to finish solving his Rubik’s Cube during the time Bolt completed the race.

As Bolt started running, Brooks began solving the cube. In a neck-to-neck encounter, Brooks surprised all, solving the cube before the talented athlete crossed the finish line. Doing so with a couple of seconds to spare, the sheer delight on his face was simply amazing. Although it was meant for Bolt, the commentator’s words fit perfectly for Brooks’ performance.

“It’s not supposed to be that easy folks,” he said.

Understandably, the two sports cannot be compared. The Jamaican finished the race in first place at the 2016 Rio Olympics, giving him three consecutive gold medals. However, the focus and the level of logical thinking needed to solve a Rubik’s Cube below nine seconds is something to be admired.

Despite completing with such pace, it is not the fastest time in which a Rubik’s Cube has been solved. The record stands at 4.904 seconds that is held by a teenager from Kentucky.

Bolt’s achievement

Bolt stunned the world after his sensational victory in Rio. Winning two gold medals in the last two Olympic Games, he returned for his last dance and pulled off an incredible race. He finished the race with a time of 9.81 seconds. He talked about achieving everything he had set out for as he bid goodbye to the track thereafter.

“Somebody said I can become immortal. Two more medals to go and I can sign off. Immortal,” said Bolt.

However, setting aside Bolt’s heroics, Brooks’ achievement can not be overlooked. From the interiors of his living room, not only did he challenge time but also beat it astonishingly.
