“We Exist to See Women…to Know Their Value”: Allyson Felix Explains the True Motive Behind Her New Brand ‘Saysh’

Even at 36, Allyson Felix continues to break barriers and crush stereotypes. She is one of the premier athletes in the world with 11 Olympic medals to her name. Notably, with all the success she achieved in her career, her determination and passion led her to create her own brand, ‘Saysh’. Recently, she opened up on the history behind her creation, what it stands for in the present and what it envisions for the future.
After issues with maternal policies with her long-time sponsor, Nike, Felix broke off her partnership with the company and found it hard to find sponsorship deals with other companies. But not one to fall prey to hurdles, she launched her own brand and moved to even greater heights.

Allyson Felix talks about ‘Saysh’
Allyson wore her brand at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 competitions and even won the bronze medal for the 400-meters race. Her passion for the sport is a testament to her success on the track. And certainly, will soon be in the retail industry as well. With the help of her brother, Allyson raised funds and started the company. In a recent interview, she opened up on the ideology behind the company and what it stands for.

“I started Saysh with my brother and it’s a lifestyle brand for women. It has really been an incredible experience. Our first product is a lifestyle sneaker and to be able to create something engineered and designed by women for women. Something that I didn’t see out there. For me it was also just a highlight of my own career to be able to go to the Olympics and compete in my own brand,” said Felix.

Felix’s product
Former Nike employees are the designers of the shoe as Felix wanted to create the best product. The design of the shoes is based on the contours of a woman’s foot. She spoke about the idea of her company and opened up on the special moment when her creation came to life.

“The bigger idea was that we exist to see women, to know them, and to know their value. So being able to cross that line and looked down on these shoes were the true physical embodiment of everything what I had been through. It was such a special moment,” said Felix.
