LA Dodgers Back Up for Freddie Freeman, as Atlanta Braves Re-Signing Doubtful

The unexpected MLB lockout paused the craziness of free agency. The lockout left a question mark on the future of free agency’s top stars like Freddie Freeman and Carlos Correa.

Freddie was highly expected to re-join his former team, the Atlanta Braves. However, their doubtful approach towards his signing has forced Freeman to look out for other options for himself.

LA Dodgers vs Atlanta Braves for Freddie Freeman?

Freddie Freeman became the star of World Series 2021, as he sailed the boat for Atlanta Braves with his heroics. Notably, with his astonishing performance, Freeman and Braves created history winning the franchises’ first title in this century.

Understandably, the Braves have a huge interest in signing him back, however, to Freeman’s disappointment, they did not keep it as a priority prior to the lockout. Hence, this doubtful approach of Braves has led to Freeman keeping other doors open.

According to Dodgers insider David Vassegh, the LA team is Freeman’s second preference. David reported, ”They [the Dodgers] do need Freddie Freeman. My understanding is Freddie Freeman definitely would play here in LA if it’s not going to be in Atlanta.”

Freeman also hails from California, so him playing in Los Angeles might be an opportunity for him to take.

Athletic’s Jim Bowden had revealed that the Dodgers had already got in touch with the Freeman team to show their interest in him.

“The Yankees and Dodgers are believed to be among the teams that have checked in with Freeman and his representatives to express interest. If he doesn’t re-sign with Atlanta, look for Los Angeles to make a strong bid for his services,” Jim said.

Despite the report, it’s tough to draw conclusions about Freeman’s future. Undeniably, he has a soft corner for his former team, but will they offer him his desired contract? Will only be clear once the MLB lockout is over.
