Back at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, Chen lost his way in the singles competitions and saw him only winning a bronze medal for the team event. This time, however, things were different. He dominated the programs from start to finish, even creating a new short program world-record. He broke Yuzuru Hanyu’s record by scoring 113.97 points and cemented his place as one of the best figure skaters in the world. An excited Chen loved his short program

Skating to the tunes of Elton John’s Rocketman, he delivered a masterclass in figure skating with his signature quadruple jumps. Moreover, the short program paved the way for his terrific performance as he spoke about his experience, in performing at the greatest sporting event.

“I was elated. Last Olympics, both short programs didn’t go the way I wanted and to finally get the opportunity to skate the programs the way that I wanted — it feels really great. It means a lot,” said Chen.
