“Who’s the F**** Judge?”: Olympian Enraged Over Controversial Judgement Taking Away Her Gold Medal Dreams at Beijing Winter Olympics 2022

Another controversy has arrived at the Beijing Winter Olympics. The women’s cross ski final saw a controversial finish as the Swiss skier Fanny Smith received a penalty. After crossing the finish line in third place, the officials left her from the podium. This caused massive outrage for the skier who went on a rant.

The 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics ski cross bronze medalist, thought she won another bronze. However, things were changed after a controversial ruling that left her angry and disappointed.

Olympian goes on a rant at Beijing Winter Olympics

As the decision is reversed, Sweden’s Sandra Näslund won the gold medal. On the other hand, Smith received a demotion, soon after which she went on a rant. She could not believe what unfolded as she shouted in disappointment. There have been many inconsistencies in judging by the officials that have led to many complaints. Thus, Smith offered her thoughts on the decision as the cameras fetched her swearing-in front of the cameras. Smith mentioned:

“Who’s the f**** judge?”

Smith clashed with German skier Daniela Maier. But, after the footage review, there was clear impeding by Canada’s Marielle Thompson that led to her clashing with the German. Even the German skier Maier showed her support for the decision.

“What? What, What? No! No, no, no, no, no! This was correct! This was totally normal skiing,” said Maier. Hence, all broke loose with the decision as Smith was left shocked. This is not the first time that something like this has happened.

Ayumu Hirano wrongly deducted

The men’s half-pipe competition saw Ayumu Hirano win the gold medal at the Beijing Winter Olympics. However, during his second run, Hirano got massively underscored by the judges. Landing the first-ever triple cork, he could not believe what happened. After that, he carried on to put a similar final run. But this time, the judges gave him a good score which led to his first gold medal.

Nonetheless, inconsistencies in judging are prevalent in most competitions. A better understanding would be great for everyone involved. Competitions deserve fair judging, as the Olympics is a prestigious sporting event. Missing out on an Olympic medal because of judging cannot happen.
