The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics have not been kind to Mikaela Shiffrin. An incredible skier, her Olympic dreams have not worked out well in Beijing. Unfortunately, her run in the giant slalom and slalom events saw her sliding away from the course. A disappointed Shiffrin looked heartbroken after the crash. However, there is reason to be optimistic now.

Shiffrin is competing in the women’s downhill event as she looks to get back to winning ways. Moreover, she is looking to end her Olympic disappointment and grab another Olympic medal. The training event for the downhill competition went well for the 26-year-old.
Mikaela Shiffrin looking to win downhill
The talented skier is competing in the downhill competition after the Super-G event where she finished ninth. Despite the two crashes in the beginning of her Olympic run,?Shiffrin finished the course during the Super-G competition.
After that, the new downhill event training saw her setting a time of 1:34.80, a time that is not bad according to the standards seen in the competition. Potential disqualifications to higher-ranked competitors mean Shiffrin did a great job.

The event will be on February 15th as she looks to win her first gold medal at the Beijing Winter Olympics. Maintaining a positive mindset has been key for her, and despite all those crashes. Thus, Shiffrin looks motivated to win the medal and bring glory to her country.
Shiffrin acknowledges fans
Even though she is having a disappointing Olympic Games, the immense support received from all corners of the world is admirable. Shiffrin is looking to get back to winning ways and posted a heart-warming message on Twitter.
“Well I?ve had a lot of support over the last 48 hours and I have to thank everyone for that. Today is Super G, and Super G is fun. I can?t express how grateful I am to have the opportunity to refocus on a new race, in the sport that I love so much. Onward,” said Shiffrin.
