The controversies happening with Russia and Ukraine have been disappointing, and many athletes have expressed their opinions. Significantly, Oksana Masters is one such athlete. Born in Ukraine, she cannot believe what has unfolded.
Masters, who already won the gold medal, is performing well; but, can’t seem to gain complete focus, according to her.

Oksana Masters disappointed with the crisis
The talented athlete shared her childhood picture on Instagram and penned an emotional tribute to her country. She talked about feeling guilty while competing in Beijing while her homeland is undergoing tough times. Masters talked about the current troubles her country was in through the Instagram post. Being one of the most inspiring athletes in the world, Masters feels crestfallen. Her Instagram post talked about her homeland and how proud she is of Ukraine.
“It has been difficult to find my passion and desire to compete at these Games amid the war my home country of Ukraine is enduring. I feel selfish, helpless, and guilty for being here. However, I have always been so proud to be Ukrainian, felt so much pride at the sight of the Ukrainian flag, and now more than ever, I am the proudest to say I am Ukrainian,” said Masters.
