Since retiring from the sport, Frank Zane has always been open about the sport and never shied away from speaking the truth. The bodybuilder has revealed many harsh and dark secrets about bodybuilding and his personal career. The former bodybuilder’s Instagram is full of quotes and preachings.

Via one of his recent Instagram posts, Zane revealed yet another unknown truth about his time as a bodybuilder.

Opposite to the loud stereotypical bodybuilder personality, Zane is famous for his attitude. Zane, who was a part of the “golden era” of bodybuilding, was known for his leaned and toned figure. Unlike several other bodybuilders, “The Chemist” was not gigantic or extremely muscled up, yet was one of the top competitors.

However, via his latest Instagram posts, the bodybuilding legend revealed that he never measured his success, but rather photographed it. The post read, “I never took measurements, only photos, I was always based entirely on appearance.” To further explain this, Zane wrote in the caption, “Knowledge of results is essential for ongoing motivation. Photos are the best way to develop an awareness of what you look like so you can take the right steps to do something constructive about it.”

Although scales and measurements are a key part of any fitness journey, Zane’s way of measuring his improvement was definitely unique. Many of his fans and followers agreed with Zane’s opinion and ideology in the comments.

Besides this, Zane once also had an unpopular opinion about the bodybuilding community.

According to Zane, this is one of the reasons bodybuilders tend to be full of themselves. It is also because they live in a competitive environment, both on and off the stage. However, it doesn’t mean bodybuilders can never be friends. Although Zane was one of the few individuals who had beaten the legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger, the two were great friends.
