While Coleman dominated the Mr. Olympia stage between 1998-2005, Jay Cutler often finished second-best behind Coleman. Subsequently, in 2006 and 2007, Cutler toppled Coleman to win the Mr. Olympia title.

Despite their intriguing rivalry, the two shared mutual respect. Cutler once compared the current generation of bodybuilders to his and Coleman’s era.

Jay Cutler once slammed bodybuilders for trash talking

During an interview, the 49-year-old talked about how social media had led to trash-talking amongst the current generation of bodybuilders. He said, “I think the internet has given people a voice that really shouldn’t have a voice and that’s the difference between the Ronnie era and now. We were talking through magazines and the magazines tend to make everyone look like a champ.”

Further, he added, “Nowadays, the guys that are 10th or 11th are still talking trash from the guys that are first and second because they’re giving more things on their social media and say whatever they want.”

Further, Cutler also slammed bodybuilders for calling out each other in interviews. He went on to explain how his and Coleman’s era of bodybuilders was completely different from the current generation of bodybuilders, where much of the talking is happening off the stage.

Cutler addresses comeback rumors

Recently, the 4-time Mr. Olympia showed off his physique while posing alongside Lexx Little. The picture went viral instantly on Instagram, and fans wondered whether Cutler was making a comeback to bodybuilding.

However, Cutler was quick to dismiss the rumors surrounding his return. He said, “They’re starting to say ‘Jay’s coming back for the Masters. We need to squash it, though.”

Cutler hasn’t competed since 2013 when he finished 6th at Mr. Olympia that year.
