Lou Ferrigno won the title of Mr. Universe two times, but his astounding prowess didn’t limit him to just that. While the bodybuilding legend was first cast in the movie The Incredible Hulk as a green-skinned beast, it was his role opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger, in the cult-classic documentary, Pumping Iron, that catapulted him to the mainstream. His jacked physique was on demand again as he portrayed the character of Hercules in a movie of the same name.
Needless to say, it required a lot of hard work to fit into the character of the strongest mythological hero. Recently, the 71-year-old IFBB pro shared an unseen image on his social media, and talked about how he decided on particular muscle building for that role.

Lou Ferrigno, the most muscular Hercules
In a recent post on Ferrigno’s Instagram, he shared a throwback picture of him along with the caption, “Training my triceps extra hard preparing for my film ‘Hercules’ in the ’80s 🦾…”. In addition, he also disclosed his favorite workout that helped him to get the desired results for the iconic character. The veteran wrote, “This is my favorite exercise to add more shape to my triceps. It was taken at World Gym in Venice Beach”. One can see the IFBB pro doing a seated overhead cable extension to build his huge chest and tricep.

Where several actors portrayed the character of Hercules on screen, Ferrigno thinks of himself as the best among them. Veteran personalities like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steve Reeves, and ex-wrestler Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson are among those who have played the role on screen. Yet the former Mr. Universe believes he has the most suitable physique. Mentioning his point of view, the icon once wrote on his Instagram, “… I am proud to say I was the biggest and most defined Hercules in cinema.”
Evidently, the Hulk took the role to the next level and enjoyed playing the Roman God. But despite all the appreciation he got, the veteran was disappointed with the directors for a particular change in the film.

Ferrigno was not happy with the outcome
Significantly, the filmmakers changed the original voice of Lou in both the Hercules movies that he acted in. It was late when he came to know about the change and he was very upset, because he thought it didn’t do justice. According to him, his voice would have been more suitable with his physique.

But the makers had to change his voice to bring clarity to the dialogues. Since Ferrigno had been suffering from hearing issues and had 80%-85% hearing loss, it impacted his speech too. Though he took retirement from bodybuilding a few years back, the 71-year-old has not declared his time off from acting. Will he make a comeback?
