Over the years, Arnold Schwarzenegger has established his name and brand across different public spheres. From 2003-2011, his stint as the Governor of California was mostly successful, save for some hiccups. Nevertheless, his two consistent terms were a testimony to his success. A recent incident, however, has tweaked this narrative.

Star Trek actor George Takei has taken the internet by storm with his recent interview. Speaking to The Stage, the 85-year-old actor penned a scathing note on the reason why he came out. Unfortunately for Schwarzenegger, his actions as a politician were also to blame.

What role did Arnold Schwarzenegger play in Takei’s woes?

George Takei played the role of Hikaru Sulu in the Star Trek Original series. The 85-year-old rose to fame back then and has continued to stay in the spotlight via his indulgences in social activism. Recently, he spoke to The Stage about his personal life and revealed something that made headlines. The star recalled how he came out of the closet as a gay man in 2005. However, the reason behind the private announcement involved Arnold Schwarzenegger’s political activities.

Takei recalled how he came out to protest against Schwarzenegger’s political choices. In 2005, the Governor used his veto for a bill that legalized gay marriage in California. Similarly, he also vetoed another bill legalizing same-sex marriage two years later. The former act angered Takei, who was already in a relationship with his husband.
