George Takei played the role of Hikaru Sulu in the Star Trek Original series. The 85-year-old rose to fame back then and has continued to stay in the spotlight via his indulgences in social activism. Recently, he spoke to The Stage about his personal life and revealed something that made headlines. The star recalled how he came out of the closet as a gay man in 2005. However, the reason behind the private announcement involved Arnold Schwarzenegger’s political activities.
Takei recalled how he came out to protest against Schwarzenegger’s political choices. In 2005, the Governor used his veto for a bill that legalized gay marriage in California.
