Kanye West was devastated when his mother passed away in 2007. Coronary artery disease combined with post-operation factors were the major causes of her death. Donda West had undergone multiple plastic surgeries before her demise. Her family believed that a medical clearance before surgeries would have saved her from the tragedy. Therefore, Kanye requested that Schwarzenegger make certain changes in the field of cosmetic surgery.
The Donda West Law stated that a physical examination was mandatory for those who wished to go under the knife for aesthetic purposes. Schwarzenegger signed the bill which was backed by Kanye’s cousin, Yolanda Anderson, and Assemblywoman Wilmer Amina Carter.
